This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Ralph Carlin Flewelling was born in Michigan May 4, 1894. Flewelling arrived in Los Angeles in 1920 with a degree in architecture from MIT. 

In 1928 he opened an architectural firm in Beverly Hills and taught art at the University of Southern California in 1930-31. The fountain at the corner of Santa Monica & Wilshire Boulevard is one of his designs as is USC's Mudd Hall and the Beverly Hills Post Office.  He died in Los Angeles on December 30, 1975. 

Exhibited: Hollywood Architects League, 1927; Foothill Artists (La Canada), 1932-36.
