A native American, born on the Rincon Indian Reservation in Southern California, he is a descendant of Bone Necklace, Sub Chief of the Santee Sioux. Freeman has won over 150 National Indian awards, for paintings of Indian and Western subjects.
Starting with ink drawings, he gave a "Cowboy and Indian" art show with a friend who was a cowboy/painter at the Valley Fort, between Fallbrook and Bonsall, California. Soon he began painting in oil, selling and exhibiting his works (showing 500 of 743 characters). |
