Biography from William Lester Gallery:
Robin Fahey Cameron has always been involved in art.  She grew up in a home where art was was encouraged and she was taught to draw, paint, write, dance and use her imagination.  Those early years were spent in northern Maine, a place of incredible natural beauty.  Later she would live in many other parts of the United States, but her enduring love of nature and of the landscape is greatly due to those years spent living midst birch trees, granite shores and deep blue lakes.

She received a BA from the University of Minnesota in Painting.  The passing years included grad school, marriage, a son, many various jobs, which is to say… life.  She kept painting, drawing, delved deeply into fine art photography, and ceramics, etc.
After years of working first as a costume designer, then copywriting and graphic design and finally as creative director of a small graphic company in San Francisco, Robin finally turned to landscape painting full time.

It is the interplay of light and shadows, the abstract relationships of vivid color and value, the glow of late afternoon light on our golden California hills that she says excites her.  She also says that there are so many inspirations that have shaped her artistic vision it is hard to name them all but Cézanne, Monet, Bonnard, Sargent, Bongart, the Society of Six come to mind.  Many of the early California plein air impressionists are sources for her inspiration. Color! Paint! No timidity! Value! These are all also important to her view.

Living now in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is enriched with natural beauty and never ending inspiration in the scenery around her.  She is also director of the William Lester Gallery in Point Reyes Station, California.

Biography from William Lester Gallery:
Robin Fahey-Cameron, a San Francisco Bay Area artist creates impressionistic oil paintings.  Painting in plein-air and also in her studio, she works with quick energetic strokes on the canvas and with a varied palette.  In addition to her oil painting, Robin also works in several other media: pastel, watercolor, photography and ceramics.

Robin was born in Bangor, Maine in 1943, and has been engrossed in art since childhood.  In 1968 she received a BA in Studio Art and a minor in Theater from the University of Minnesota.  She worked as a costume designer and set designer for several years and also as Creative Director for a San Francisco graphics company. More recently she has concentrated on fine arts, especially landscape painting.

Throughout the years Cameron has exhibited in many one-woman, juried and invitational shows.  Her works appear in collections both in the United States and abroad.  She was recently featured in an article on starting art collections in the October, 2000 issue of Southwest Art Magazine.  She is a Signature Member of En Couleur, a group of California colorist landscape painters.  She lives in Novato, California.
