| A painter of landscapes, portraits and still lifes and teacher active in Chicago and Aurora, Illinois during the early and mid 20th century, Ruth Ford was an instructor in life drawing and painting and director of the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts from 1937 to 1960. In 1964, she became a professor of painting at Aurora College in Aurora, Illinois.
