This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Partner with his brother, John Roy Foster, of an important frame making firm founded in 1875 in Boston, Massachusetts. The firm designed and crafted frames for such Boston artists as Wm. Paxton and Edmund Tarbell. Among their principal designers was C. Fellow Richter.
Their richly carved and gilded gold leaf frames were distinguished by their combining of 17th circa Dutch features such as rippled mouldings and crossetted corner treatments with American floral motifs.
