| Fawkes earned a BFA degree in design from Rochester Institute of Technology and a MFA degree in painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Fawkes has taught art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Oregon in Eugene. He now teaches at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.
