This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following biography was submitted by Dr. Melissa Fein, June 2004.  The source is the obituary of the artist.  Date is unknown.

Truman Fassett was born May 9, 1885 in Elmira N.Y., the son of the Hon. and Mrs. Jacob Sloat Fassett. His mother was the former Jennie L. Crocker of Sacramento, California, daughter of Judge Edwin B. Crocker.

His painting career continued from the age of seven throughout his life. Graduated from Cornell University in 1909, subsequently he pursued his art education at the New York Art Students League, the Boston Museum School, and in Paris, France, where he studied with Lucien Simon and Richard Miller, and exhibited works at the Paris Salon in 1913.

During World War I he served in the United States Navy. In 1929 he settled with his family in Sarasota, FL.  He became active in the practice and promotion of the arts. His interests were not confined to painting.  He was a president of the Art Association during its early years and presided over the first meeting, which founded the Players of Sarasota, and contributed his gifts as singer and actor to a number of their early performances.  He and Mrs. Cecelia Bostlemann Fassett were instrumental in organizing and supporting the Sarasota Symphony Association.  This led to the organization by others of the Florida West Coast Symphony.

During the pioneer days of aviation, Truman Fassett became an enthusiastic aviator and promoter of the first Sarasota Airport.  During World War II he contributed two years to war work in Sarasota when he was appointed to direct work in Soldier Recreation and in the Red Cross Camp and Hospital, as well as serving as head of City and County Welfare.

For many years Mr. Fassett was a summer resident of West Falmouth, MA.
