| | Born in Illinois on Oct. 20, 1884, the son of artist Albert M. Foerster. Following graduation from the University of Chicago, the younger Foerster studied at the AIC. He moved to San Francisco in 1913 to work as manager of the Schmidt Lithograph Company.
