Biography from Mika Gallery:
William Fredericksen (1914 - 2010)

Born in Norway in 1914, William Fredericksen, artist, craftsman, antique collector and connoisseur, was creative with a number of styles. He is most known for his bright and bold geometric abstracts, figurative crayon compositions and assemblage works.

He studied art at the American Academy of Art and the Art Institute (Chicago) and the Institute of Design.  At the Art Institute, Fredericksen was under the tutelage of esteemed Bauhaus masters László Moholy-Nagy and Alexander Archipenko.

Fredericksen developed fascinating and detailed collages representing authentic pieces and things such as old sailing ships, bridges, Asian street scenes and diverse designs of white on white and colored collages.

Mr. Fredericksen has had several one man shows at the Emmerick Gallery, N.Y., the Silvermine Annuals and the Jasper Rand Gallery.
