| Zada Lura Pierce was born in Weston, OR on Jan. 23, 1904. Zada graduated from UCLA in 1927 and then taught art history at Los Angeles High School for many years. She studied painting at Stanford University with Daniel Mendelowitz after her marriage to David Folz in 1930. She then continued teaching in various southern California high schools. She was a resident of Van Nuys, CA until her demise on Dec. 20, 2008.
