Biography from Verna Glancy Fine Art:
Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data compared to the extensive information about American artists.

Born in 1978, Zhou Fang is an emerging young artist.  Miss Zhou graduated from the Bengbu Academy of Art in the Anhui Province of China.  Her esteemed teacher, Professor Liu Gaofeng, and artist Cheng Weijian have greatly influenced her work. They instantly recognized a bright shining star.  Her masterful use of light and shadow and attention to detail carries us back to the paintings of Jan Van Eyck and Vermeer.

Miss Zhou began her career in 1999 in Shanghai.  She has been widely received on an international basis and while showing respect for the teaching of traditional Chinese art, created her own style and use of texture and color.  Although her studies have an apparent influence of the Old Masters, her compositions continue to combine both Eastern and Western subjects, melding together an array of cultures.  They are peaceful, serene compositions of found objects, presented to us in a dawning light of grace and beauty.  A simple peach or pomegranate becomes a subject of reflection.  Painted pottery is captured in an eternity of exquisite detail.
