Albert Gihon studied with Thomas Eakins and William Merritt Chase at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Not satisfied with studying at one of the most important art schools with two of the most important painters/teachers of the 19th Century, Gihon went to Paris for further studies. First he enrolled with Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant at the Academie Julien, but later transferred to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study with Jean-Leon Jerome.
