The following was submitted by Bernice and Joseph Fishstein of Brooklyn, New York. Their source is a letter, 2003, from Heather Haskell, Director of the Springfield, Art Museums (Massachusetts). Haskell wrote:
We have a bit of information about him [Graves] in an exhibition catalogue from the show "Town and River: Art of Springfield's First Golden Era" (1979-George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, Springfield, MA). The entry reads as follows:
