Alexander Gavalas is known primarily as a landscape painter and works in the classical realist style. The Hudson River countryside and the old villages portrayed by the American Masters of the 19th Century are the subject of his paintings. His paintings in oil on canvas are executed in a variety of scales as are his pen and ink drawings on rag paper. He works with a strict, near photographic accuracy of representation and yet the com (showing 500 of 2303 characters). |
