Landscape painter and millinery designer Anna Philomena Gellenbeck was known for her misty landscapes in post-impressionist style. She was born on March 16, 1883, in Shakopee, Minnesota and spent her childhood there. She drew from an early age and continued to be a serious painter of landscapes until she died, making many painting trips to scenic locales in Washington State and, less frequently, California, Alaska, and Montana.
