| | Born in Poland on Jan. 18, 1884. Grot (né Groszewski) moved to the U.S. in 1909. He settled in southern California in 1922 and worked as an art director for Warner Brothers for 31 years. After retiring from motion picture work in 1948, he devoted his remaining years to painting.
