Carl Gutherz (Swiss/American 1844-1907):
Gutherz is known for his work as a muralist painter. Born in Switzerland, he was brought to the United States by his parents in 1851.
He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Pils, Boulanger and in Rome with Simonetti. His works were awarded medals for distinction at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1987 and in the Paris Exposition of 1889.
