The following information was submitted by Paul G. Stein: Casimir Clayton Griswold was born in Delaware, Ohio in 1834, son of a newspaper publisher. Griswold began his career as an engraver and illustrator, but by the late 1850s was exhibiting landscape paintings at the National Academy of Design. He became an Academician in 1867 and maintained a studio at the Tenth Street Studio Building in New York City in 1869-1870, placing him in the periphery of the circle of artists who woul (showing 500 of 2176 characters). |
