This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter, sculptor and teacher, Giglio Dante was born in Rome, Italy and studied there at the Academy of Rome.  He then lived in New York City, and Boston Massachusetts where he taught at South Bay University.  He was a member of the Artists Union.

Exhibitions included the Cincinnati Art Museum, 1945; The Contemporary Group Art Gallery, Chicago, 1948, 1952, 1955; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, 1934-1936; Golden Gate Exposition, 1939; Boris Mirski Gallery, 1944, 1946; Brandt Gallery, 1945, 1946;  Art Institute of Chicago, 1949; Brooklyn Museum, 1950-1955; Santa Barbara Museum Art, 1954; other solo: Betty Parsons Gallery, 1947, 1950; Museum of Modern Art, 1954; Bayne Gallery, Los Angeles, 1954;  Salpeter Gallery, New York, 1960; and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Biography from Nabi Gallery:
Born in Rome, son of a church muralist, Giglio Raphael Dante moved to the United States as a teenager.  His first show was sponsored by the Works Progress Administration.

The Betty Parsons Gallery was among many that exhibited his work in the course of a long career, and he continued to paint with vigor and passion until shortly before his death in 2007 at the age of 94.
