Godfrey Dewitt creates large abstract sculptures from thin strips of Cor-ten steel bolted into cylinders.
Dewitt was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended Yale University with the intention of majoring in architecture but was side tracked after he took a sculpture course. He lived in Brooklyn, New York for two years before he won a Fulbright scholarship to study in Scotland. He earned a MFA from Edinburgh College in 1996.
