This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Raised on a ranch in western Oklahoma, Dixie Friend gay found her niche when she went to New York City to study art at New York University. Now a resident of Houston, she lives in a loft-style home and studio on an acre of land with her husband and children. Gay creates acrylic paintings inspired by the environment and public art mosaics including "Houston Bayou" at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
