Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
Painter, illustrator.  Born in Oakland, CA on April 18, 1894.

Grant studied locally with Frank Van Sloun.  After serving in the Army during WWI, he settled in NYC and spent the next 26 years in advertising art.  During this time he studied with Frank DuMond and George Bridgman at the Art Students League, with Pruett Carter at the Grand Central Art School, and taught at the Pratt Institute, Art Career School, and Cooper Union.

Retiring from commercial art in 1946, he moved to North Carolina and remained there until his death in Rocky Mount on April 28, 1993.

Primarily a watercolorist, he was equally facile with oil and pen-and-ink.  He was the brother of artist Gordon H. Grant and the uncle of artists Gordon K. Grant and Campbell Grant.
