| Born in Gladstone, IL on Aug. 12, 1879. Gearhart settled in Pasadena, CA in 1888. She earned her B.A. degree from UCLA in 1901 and further studied with Arthur Dow at Columbia University. She taught applied design in the Los Angeles public schools for forty years. The studio that she shared with her sisters, May and Frances, was converted into an art gallery which sold their paintings as well as those of other local artists.
