| | Born in Lorraine, France in 1824. By 1870 Godchaux had settled in San Francisco and was a popular member of the local art scene. Emperor Norton often plucked a rose from her garden for his lapel. Several portraits of her are in the California Historical Society, one by Charles C. Nahl. She died in San Francisco in 1899. Exh: Mechanics' Inst.
