| GIFFEN, Elizabeth Helene (1909-1990). Watercolorist. Born in California on
May 29, 1909. While at UC Berkeley, "Betsy" Giffen studied with Hans Hofmann
and continued at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.
During the 1930s she was active in the southern California art scene. After her
marriage to O. C. Williams, a professor at San Jose State University, she was a resident of San Jose until her death on Aug. 9, 1990.
