| | Born in California on Oct. 1, 1908 of Hungarian parents. After graduating from the University of California, Gorny was a resident of San Francisco in the 1930s. She then taught art for 35 years in the city schools of Los Angeles. She was the wife of Lucian Downey at the time of her death in Pasadena on Dec. 20, 1975.
