| Known as the Sandhill Artist, he was a commercial artist who also painted and exhibited many landscape paintings around Mullen, Nebraska where he was born and lived until the age of 15. His most popular work was titled Day's End.
For more than fifty years, he worked in Omaha as an area representative for the Thomas D Murphy Company, a firm specializing in advertising calendars. Some of his paintings were used on these calendars. He was also a founder of the Associated Artists of Omaha, which gave an annual award, the Elmer Award, in his honor.
He died in May, 1992 at the age of 89. |
