| Born in Garden Grove, CA on Sept. 14, 1900. A graduate of Los Angeles Bible Institute, Gandy was pastor of the Eagle Rock Baptist Church. In his leisure he studied painting locally at Chouinard and Otis art institutes. During summers he lived in Yosemite in a wooden teepee at the entrance to Camp Curry. He sold his paintings to the tourists and acted as their tour guide. For awhile he had a radio show and became well known for his stories about the Yosemite Indians.
