This biography from the Archives of AskART:
From Hungary, Eszter Gyory became a United States citizen and settled in Miami, Florida where she had her studio as a painter, muralist and illustrator. She studied in New York City from 1980 to 1982 at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League and took private lessons with Lajos Szalay from 1980 to 1987. Her work includes 400 Pablo Picasso replicas commissioned by the Art and Culture Center in Hollywood, Florida; a mural for the Mezzanote Restaurant in Cocoanut Grove, Florida; and scenes from the Bible, that are in the Nicolas Roerich Museum in New York.

Awards include the 1985 Gold Medal from the Hungarian World Federation and the 1986 Best Album Cover of the Year from Pesent Biblia Paraszt, Hungary.

Note from Jim Tommaney, November 2004

Esther gave me a one-man show in her Miami Design District gallery on 40th St., a number of years ago. Below is my tribute to her in my book "The White Alphabet, covering 26 local artists. She is a wonderful artist, and was very supportive of local artists as a gallery-owner. She spells her name "Eszter" unless she has Americanized it.

G is for Gyory
her art a glory
as is the rest 'a her,
first name is Eszter.

Beauty, raconteur
Agent provacateur.

All she touches
makes us whole -
she cleans her brushes
with her soul.
