Evangeline Fanton was known for opaque watercolor landscapes of San Diego, still lifes, and Mexican scenes. Later in her career she did collages and monotypes.
She was born in San Diego, California and remained a resident of her native city for her entire life. Her father, Luther Fanton, was also an artist.
In the 1920's Evangeline Fanton married Byron Gilchrist.
She was an award-winning artist who studied at Pamona College and San Diego State University. She improved her (showing 500 of 1978 characters). |
