| Painter, teacher. Born in Berlin, Germany on Sept. 29, 1889. Goldberg studied at the Royal Academy in Munich and in Paris at Ecole des Beaux Arts. While in San Francisco in 1904 he painted portraits, cable car scenes, and Chinatown genre. He returned to Germany and was commissioned to paint the portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm. After returning to California in 1947, he remained in San Francisco until his demise on Nov. 5, 1973. Many of his oils burned in the 1980s making extant paintings rare.
