Born in Genda, Kansas, Garnet Davy Grosse was an early 20th century painter, especially noted for desert landscape scenes of Arizona and California. She was also a muralist, writer and teacher.
She studied at the California School of Arts and Crafts with Perham Nahl and William Paxton and then was a student at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design in New York. She also went to Europe for further study.
