| Born in a mining camp called Ward in Boulder County, CO on Nov. 22, 1903. Gregg began painting the beautiful Colorado scenery at age 11. He had a few lessons locally with Mrs. Wm Rothrock, but remained a self-taught artist. In Denver he was active with a theatrical group which inspired him to move to Hollywood, CA in 1922. There he read proof at the Los Angeles Times, worked for Orion Studios as a bit player, and waited tables while painting in his leisure.
