| A professor of sculpture from 1964 at George Washington University in Washington DC., Harry Gates became Professor Emeritus in 2002. He creates large-scale abstract sculpture, and his work is in numerous collections including that of the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC, and Washington and Lee University in Virginia.
He was born in Elgin, Illinois.
