| Born in Vallejo, CA on Jan. 9, 1872. Gorham studied at the ASL of NYC under George Bridgman. Active in San Francisco from the early 1890s, he was an employee of local lithographers (Crocker, Dickman-Jones, and Mutual Label) and in 1915 began a long assocation with the Schmidt Lithograph Company. There he and Carl A. Beck set up the art department in the penthouse overlooking the bay. His designs at Schmidt included calendars, floral company letterheads as well as wine and fruit labels.
