A water color artist and book illustrator, Herbert J. Gute received his
B.F.A. from the Yale School of the Fine Arts in 1933. For three
years he was staff artist for the Yale excavations at Dura-Europos in
Syria. His copies of the 3rd century frescoes uncovered in the
excavations are in the classrooms at Yale University’s History of Art
Department.
He taught at the Yale School of the Fine Arts from 1938 until his
retirement. He exhibited with the Nationa (showing 500 of 1491 characters). |
