| Born in Barrinton, RI on June 14, 1889. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, Gladding won a scholarship to the PAFA which included travel and graduate study in art museums of Europe. In 1921 she joined the faculty at UC Berkeley, and when the Women's Faculty Club was founded at UC, she designed the interior and furnishings, and continued to teach design and color there for 36 years. Early in her career, she exhibited chalk drawings and watercolors at the San Francisco Art (showing 500 of 895 characters). |
