| | Born in Carthage, IL on Aug. 15, 1861. Genung was a resident of Sacramento in 1881 while working as a machinist. By 1898 he had settled in San Francisco where he was a building contractor until his demise on April 12, 1937. A self-taught artist, his landscapes have a naive charm and appear to have been done prior to 1915. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1881-84. | Source:
