A painter of village scenes of the English country side, Gozzard is believed to have been born in 1888. However, Census research has shown that James Walter Gozzard was born im 1862 in Northchurch, Berkhamstead, Herts. In the 1871 Census he is living with his father (A sawyer in a saw mill) and his brother James W. and sister Elizabeth K. in Croxley Green, Herts. There is also a 17 year old Mary A .Caldwall described as this father's 'sister-in-law' who is the Housekeeper as (showing 500 of 1490 characters). |
