This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
January Goeree was a Dutch engraver and poet.
Goeree was the son of Willem Goeree, a Middelburg bookseller. At a
young age, he moved to Amsterdam with his father. He made engravings of
various buildings of Amsterdam.
In 1705 he received the “Stadsbestuur” of the city of Amsterdam. He
was chosen to paint the vaults of the Great Hall of the City Hall.
