Born in Santa Cruz, CA on Feb. 5, 1892, Jay Green, at age 18 moved to San Francisco where he studied at the California School of Fine Art and in Oakland at the California College of Arts & Crafts..
After serving in WWI, he returned to San Francisco, and in 1919 opened a commercial design firm, which became one of the most successful on the West Coast. His work included the architectural model of the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition and 10 massive dioramas for that expo (showing 500 of 967 characters). |
