| | Born in Salt Lake City, UT on March 3, 1915. A Cherokee Indian, Gano had settled in Los Angeles by the early 1930s. He studied there at the Academy of Fine Art, USC, and with Christian von Schneidau, Theodore Lukits, and Hanson Puthuff. In 1934 he was on the Public Works of Art Project. He died in Los Angeles on Sept. 1, 1982. Member: Calif.
