| Born in Los Altos, CA on June 17, 1895 of Irish parents. Following graduation from Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, Gerrity studied briefly at the CSFA. During the 1920s and 1930s he taught in his studios in San Francisco and Berkeley and later at CSFA and UC Extension. In the 1930s he worked with Lucien Labaudt on several projects and designed sets for various theatre groups, lectured locally, and served as art critic for the San Francisco Call-Bulletin.
