Joseph Greenberg was born in New York in 1926.  He received his first art training,at twenty, at the 92nd Street YMCA Art School.  Six months later he was awarded a scholarship.  He continued his studies at the Art Students League and at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, both on scholarships.

He has shown at the City Center, the Roko Gallery, the Riverside Museum and Berlin Academy of Fine Arts.
