| Born in Crawford County, MO on March 15, 1878. Katherine Miller was listed as an artist in the San Jose City Directory of 1900 and soon thereafter married Harvey Gillespie. She was a close friend and painting partner of artist Bertha Stringer Lee and served as maid of honor at Bertha's wedding. After attending the CSFA for three years, she continued there as an instructor from 1915-18. During the early 1930s she taught garden sculpture at the Western Women's Club. Mrs. Gillespie died in San (showing 500 of 792 characters). |
