Born in Newark, New Jersey, Lionel Gilbert graduated in 1929 from the
Newark School of Fine Art and then in 1933 from the Academy Grand
Chaumiere in Paris where he studied with Suzanne Valadon.
He also studied at the Chicago School of Design with Maholy-Nagy and at
New York University with Sam Adler. In New York he exhibited at
the New School of Social Research in 1966 and the Alonzo Gallery in
1968, 1970 and 1971.
For many years, he taught drawing and painting (showing 500 of 881 characters). |
