Working from a studio on Long Island, Liz Gribin works with acrylic on canvas to create paintings that she calls "post abstract realism," figurative works not tied to nature.
She begins her paintings by placing colors on the canvas, then drawing into it with charcoal and moving back and forth between color and drawing until a figure, usually a woman, emerges.
As a young child, she copied Norman Rockwell's covers, and as she got older she developed an admiration for Matisse for his (showing 500 of 3131 characters). |
