| | Born in Saginaw, MI on Oct. 2, 1890. By the 1920s Gaffney had settled in Los Angeles and was a pupil at Otis Art Institute. He worked there as a court clerk and escrow officer while painting in his leisure. He died in Glendale, CA on Dec. 19, 1995 at age 105.
