Biography from AskART:
| | Earning an MFA in 1968 from Indiana University, he studied with James McGarrell. From 1974, he has taught at the State Universtiy of New York at Albany. His work is a quest for human imagery and a rejection of the 60's big- scale abstractions. He has been described as "ripping the lid off middle-class complacency to reveal a churning cauldron of Freudian delusions and nightmares." His paintings are curious tableus of seemingly ordinary people doing horrific things to each other. He often uses visual images of his own family members. His first solo show in New York was at Phyllis Kind Gallery in 1979. |
