| A pioneer in the techniques of modern studio pottery, Mary Scheier, working with her husband, Edwin Scheier, was known for utilitarian pots highlighted by skillfully applied glazes. With him creating and applying the glazes, the couple worked side by side most of their married life. In addition to thrown pottery, they made small sculptures from local clay, and some of these pieces resembled Sung Dynasty-era pottery. Rebirth of humans and animals was a reoccurring theme in their (showing 500 of 1778 characters). |
